Couple's Shower

This past weekend we took a trip out to the farm and had a blast! Saturday morning Jackie Jensen of Jacqueline Kay Photography (she's Darron's cousin), took our maternity photos. We went around the property and Jackie took some gorgeous photos! You just wait - there are pictures to prove that I sat and laid down in the tall, chigger infested grass! :P It was worth it though, and when I get those photos from Jackie, I'll be posting them here!

Sunday morning we had sweet fellowship with special folks at Granny's. We had six workers there since Saturday was a work day at Marysville, so that was extra special! Then, our dear sweet Justine & Derek threw us a couple's shower at their newlywed nest! It was so cute and fun! It was a cookout, or "Baby-Q" if you will, and it was PERFECT weather for it! I was even able to sit outside to eat, comfortably! In mid-August! 8 months pregnant! :P Anyhow, I was also super excited that our friend (and elder from the Manhattan meeting) Les Kuehne was so kind as to bring up my dear friend Donna Burton. Donna and I were both managers at Orion together, and through trying to survive our time there, we became good friends! It was so special to have her there, as well as our friend Natalie Johnson! Natalie is Nick Patch's girlfriend. For those of you who haven't had the privilege of meeting Nick yet, he and Darron were partners in crime at K-State while working on their Master's degrees (I'm really not sure how they got anything done or graduated with all the pranks they pulled!), and they remain good friends. You'll probably see posts in the future (after baby) involving all of us shooting out at the farm together! :) Anyhow, we were SO glad and thankful to have everyone there who was able to come, it really made it extra special! Weeks 33 & 34

Weeks 31 & 32

So we've had a pretty eventful and fun couple of weeks! On August 1st I started my new job at The Neenan Company Showroom as a Showroom Specialist. So far, I love it! The Neenan Company has been around for over 60 years and is a family-owned, -oriented, and -run business, which I think is one of the reasons why I like it so well and suits me just great right now! It's been interesting to be more active as I get less energy, but it feels SO good to have a reason to get up, get ready, and get out of the house! Y'all might think I'm crazy, but I like working! I feel pretty good about it too, as I had just the right amount of time to get baby's room done before going back to work!

I know what you're thinking...baby room pics! Well, not yet! I'll wait until after everything is put away from my shower this weekend! Derek & Justine are throwing us a couple's shower for Darron's family and our Manhattan friends at their newlywed nest! We can't wait! We will also *hopefully* be getting our maternity photos taken on Saturday by the same wonderful photographer that did Derek & Justine's wedding! Fingers are crossed that all goes well, and pictures will follow! :)

This past weekend we had Darron's co-workers from ERM over for a cook-out on Saturday before we went to the Demolition Derby at the JOCO Fair! What an exhausting but very fun day!! We also had the privilege of having Derek & Justine for the entire weekend!! All in all, a very eventful, fun and exciting weekend!

KC Baby Shower

So I have some pretty awesome family and friends, and some of them were so kind as to throw me a baby shower here for the KC folks! It was Saturday the 27th at the Y in Olathe, and it was great fun and very cute! I will post some pics below from Sheila Young's camera. I have some pics coming from Beth Faber, however they're delayed a bit as something much more important came up...

Welcome to the world Claire Alexis! Marty & Beth welcomed the newest member of their family 2 weeks early, on Wednesday, July 31st! We are so excited for them, and she is of course ADORABLE! I would post some pics, but maybe I should leave that to the mommy of this sweet little girl for now :) For those that don't know, Claire and Zoey are cousins to both Darron and myself. Nope, it's really not messed up... Marty is a cousin to Darron, and Beth is a cousin to me! :)

Anyhow...on with some baby shower pics (thank you Sheila for sharing these!)...

This beautiful blanket is practical too! Our dear friend Joyce Downey made this for baby! :)

Momma gave me a bag of some of my baby items. This is the glow worm that I had to sleep with every night! It had an awake side and an asleep side, and the whole thing glows. Daddy put new batteries in for our baby girl, and it still works!

She got me teary-eyed on this one. This was my "twinkly ball" that I was given after my surgery at 10 months old. This was like my security blanket, I loved this thing - it twinkles when you shake it!
